Nefertari Meritmut is one of the most well-known ancient African Queens. She was incredibly bright and quickly learned how to read and write hieroglyphs. Her skills soon caught the attention of Pharaoh Ramesses the Great, who made her his first Great Royal Wife. Nefertari used her knowledge to help with diplomatic work, corresponding with other Royal families.

Nefertari Meritmut’s tomb QV66 is reported as one of the most spectacular in the Valley of the Queens. Ramesses had lavishly decorated it and even built a temple for her at Abu Simbel next to his colossal monument.

People often visit her tomb to admire its beauty. As the tomb of Nefertari Meritmut is being excavated, archaeologists are in for a surprise. Rather than the usual collection of funerary objects, they find an incredibly lavish and well-decorated tomb. The walls are covered in paintings and hieroglyphs, depicting scenes of Nefertari’s life.

Terry White is the creator of this shoot. He is into Technology/Gadget, Design and Photography based in Atlanta GA. He had been fascinated by ancient Egyptian culture since he visited Egypt and came up with the idea of depicting an Egyptian Queen. “I had this concept of doing an Egyptian Queen “Nefertari” themed shoot. I’ve always had a fascination with Ancient Egyptian culture. I first toured Egypt in 1990 and it left a lasting impression on me. I also went back for a short business trip last year while on the Adobe CS5 Tour.”

Fortunately, Terry knew the model that will be perfect for the shoot and she happens to be his favorite model Kandice Lynn. Also, Terry drew his first piece of inspiration from a Skymall catalog. “It was an authentic-looking King Tutankhamun throne. I ripped the page out of the catalog and kept looking back at it saying “one day.”
