Meta, formerly known as Facebook, in partnership with Bing, has launched an AI assistant that features personalities of celebrities such as Snoop Dogg, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Paul and allows users to interact with it in a more personal and entertaining way. The AI assistant, powered by Llama 2 and the company’s large language model, will be available on popular apps such as Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger, and is expected to also be integrated into the company’s upcoming Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses and Quest.
According to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, the AI assistant is not just about answering queries but also about connecting with people and providing entertainment. He states, “This isn’t just gonna be about answering queries. This is about entertainment and about helping you do things to connect with the people around you.”
In addition, Meta has partnered with celebrities and influencers to launch their AI chatbot. The company believes that by partnering with cultural icons and influencers, the AI chatbots will feel more like talking to familiar people. Zuckerberg adds, “And because interacting with them should feel like talking to familiar people, we did something to build on this even further. We partnered with cultural icons and influencers to play and embody some of these AIs. They’ll each have profiles on Instagram and Facebook, so you can explore what they’re all about.”
Meta’s AI assistant also boasts 28 more AIs that users can message on Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp, each with their own unique backstories and personalities. The company stated, “Our journey with AIs is just beginning, and it isn’t purely about building AIs that only answer questions. We’ve been creating AIs that have more personality, opinions, and interests, and are a bit more fun to interact with.”
