Curtis Lawrence III is a 16-year-old scholar who recently made headlines when he was accepted to 14 prestigious colleges, including Harvard, Yale, Howard, Morehouse and Morgan. However, Curtis chose to attend Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU), a historically black college in Tallahassee, Florida. Curtis is no stranger to attending rigorous academic institutions – at only 14 years old, he became the youngest student at the prestigious George Washington University where he has been attending high school.

While Curtis could have chosen any college he wanted, he ultimately decided on FAMU because of the unique opportunities it provides for biology programs. On social media, he shared a video stating. “In the fall, I will be double-majoring in biology and computer science and taking my talents to Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University.”

Curtis wants to use his platform to inspire other young black people to pursue their dreams, regardless of the obstacles they may face. He is an excellent example of what can be achieved when you set your mind to something and refuse to let anything stand in your way. Curtis is sure to achieve great things throughout his time at FAMU and beyond.

Curtis Lawrence III who has been studying African history, astronomy, calculus, and university writing at George Washington University, will now be enrolled to study biology and computer science at #FAMU. He hopes to become a paleontologist.

The Vice President for Student Affairs William E. Hudson Jr., Ph.D., stated  “FAMU is very fortunate to have students of the caliber of Curtis Lawrence III confirming attendance. We always seek the best and brightest talent globally and he fits the mold of the distinguished FAMU Alumni.”
